I took English 2100, Technical Communication to satisfy the Composition portion of SLCC's General Education requirements during the Fall 2013 semester at Salt Lake Community College's Redwood campus.
Our individual project was to write an analytical report on the orginizational culture of our intended careers. I titled mine Looking for Group - a reference to the phrase commonly used in multiplayer games when trying to form cooperative teams - as my report focused on newer video game studios (aka "Indies").
Our group project was to write an analytical report on how the general business culture of another coutry varies from America's. Our group's topic was India and, in addition to producing the final report, I was responsible for the portions concerning Social Consumerism and Business Relationships.
An additional project was to demonstrate our technical writing proficiency by producing an Extended Definition for a complex or obscure term which is common to our intended careers. I wrote my Extended Definition on the term polycount due to its signifigance in video game development.

From the outset of this course, I noticed a considerable degree of similarity between this course and Business Communications (BUS 2200) - yet the specific focus was considerably different. The best analogy I can think of is artistic vs technical, as this course emphasized "expression within the Forms" more than the Forms themselves.
The Group Project, in particular, presented a radical shift in my perspective towards formal communications. The world is changing and many aspects can no longer be taken for granted as the Internet continues to break down cultural barriers and makes geographic distances irrelevant.
Of particular interest were the regular exercises discussing ethical considerations. Classmates would evaluate given situations in radically different ways, yet every assessment was completely valid. As with the Group Project, this highlighted one's innate tendency to make assumptions and threw cultural biases into sharp relief.
